Global Warming

Global warming is becoming a buzz word these days. But many of us don't understand actually the term is. I say that, it is the human activities that cause changes in the atmosphere and climate which in turn affect the rainfall patterns, impacting the life of plants and animals and finally the human being. More than 40% of pollution in the world is caused due to vehicles and industrial emissions. Though government has to take necessary steps to reduce the effect, I urge all those who read this space to spread a word to all your friends and families to contribute their part in avoiding global warming by adopting small and trivial practices.

  1. Switch off the vehicles while waiting at signal points if waiting time is more than 30 seconds. It takes less than 5 seconds to re start your vehicle.

  2. Car pooling is another good practice which is a cost saving and also effective way of using the vehicles. Whenever you plan to go out with your friends or colleagues, please do not let your egos and status coming in the way to share a common vehicle to travel. It would definitely help you to co-ordinate with the people and also an economy packed plan.

  3. Avoid usage of plastic whenever possible, espcially while going to a vegetable market....carry a jute bag which is eco friendly. Please do not accept the polythene packs supplied by the vendors while shopping too. I know it would be a difficult thing to avoid plastic totally, but at least where ever possible...please avoid it.

All the above points can be adopted only through a perfect change within us, which would definitely prove to be good for us, for community, for nation and to the entire world. Come lets join hands together and bring about a change in the way we live. We should be the change that we would like to see in the world. Be bold to change even if you face criticism initially...!!!

Reducing Pollution

Pollution is on a very high raise these days. But nobody ever makes a conscious effort on their part towards reducing pollution. Due to heavy traffic, I observed that at most of the big traffic signals, we stop for at least two minutes. W.H.Y. can't we switch off our vehicles at such junctions which might be some sort of avoidance of noise and also air pollution. On an average 150 to 200 vehicles stop at each RED signal. And I have tested and tried switching off the vehicle and starting again at GREEN. It does not take even 3 to 5 seconds to restart the vehicle. By practicing this type of exercise, we indirectly even give chance to our vehicle engines to cool for a while and also reduce the pollution (air and noise) at the same time. So, my sincere request to all those who view and read this posting to practice this exercise and lets work towards a cleaner environment. By the way, this will increase our vehicle's fuel efficiency too....!!!!
